# Smart Microgrid System Project for a Large Enterprise

Pain Point

Large peak-to-valley difference in electricity load, high electricity costs, insufficient solar consumption, limited charging pile expansion, and traditional transformers unable to achieve flexible interconnection and power quality governance.

Approach

Used solid-state transformers (SST) to replace traditional distribution transformers, integrating solar, energy storage, charging piles, and flexible loads to build an AC/DC hybrid microgrid, achieving global optimization dispatch via an AI energy management system.

Deployed a solid-state transformer (SST) based solar-storage-charging integrated smart microgrid for a large manufacturing enterprise, achieving collaborative dispatch of source-grid-load-storage and optimal energy costs.

## Challenge

The peak-to-valley difference in electricity load in the factory area exceeds 60%, with heavy pressure from peak electricity prices; the consumption rate of rooftop solar is less than 65%, with severe solar curtailment; traditional transformer capacity is limited, making it impossible to expand employee charging piles; harmonics and voltage fluctuations lead to substandard power quality, damaging precision equipment.

## Solution

Deployed an AC/DC hybrid microgrid based on solid-state transformers, where SST connects solar, energy storage, and charging piles simultaneously, eliminating multiple conversion stages; equipped with an AI energy management platform to optimize charging/discharging strategies based on load forecasting and electricity price signals, achieving solar-storage-charging collaboration and flexible load regulation.

## Result

Solar self-consumption rate increased to 92%, comprehensive electricity costs reduced by 28%, and annual peak-to-valley arbitrage revenue exceeded 3.2 million RMB; charging piles expanded to 60 units without requiring distribution capacity expansion; power quality compliance rate reached 99.8%, equipment failure rate decreased by 45%, and the project payback period was 4.2 years.

> “The solid-state transformer microgrid solved our three major problems of solar consumption, charging expansion, and high electricity bills at once. It is a truly future-oriented power distribution solution.”
