Challenge

Fugitive gas (methane) emissions account for a high proportion of total carbon emissions in coal mines, and traditional manual inspections are lagging and inaccurate; underground and surface energy systems are scattered, and carbon emission accounting relies on manual statistics; coal products lack carbon footprint data, facing green procurement pressure from downstream steel and power clients; zero-carbon mine construction lacks a unified digital control and decision-making platform.

Solution

Deployed a digital twin energy-carbon dashboard to map all mine production scenarios in 3D; installed gas concentration and flow sensors underground to achieve real-time monitoring and accounting of methane emissions; integrated water, electricity, gas, and heating data to complete refined energy management and all-source carbon accounting; built-in coal product LCA model to generate carbon footprint reports from mining to factory gate with one click.

Result

Gas monitoring coverage reached 100%, methane data accuracy improved by 60%, and comprehensive gas utilization rate rose to 85%; carbon accounting automation rate reached 92%, energy consumption per unit of product decreased by 14%, and annual carbon reduction exceeded 120,000 tons of CO₂e; product carbon footprint report generation cycle was shortened to 7 days, helping the enterprise pass downstream green supply chain audits.

With gas monitoring and digital twin, we have for the first time turned invisible coal mine carbon emissions into manageable digital assets, giving zero-carbon mines a solid starting point.
